The University of Tasmania seeks an exceptional academic leader to develop and deliver the multi-disciplinary research program that underpins Sense-T.
Sense-T is creating a world-leading economy-wide Internet of Things infrastructure that will establish Tasmania as a test bed for cutting edge research with national and international applications. Sense-T is a strategic priority for the University and the Tasmanian Government and has mobilised significant public and private investment from within Australia and internationally.
The Research Director will lead the research agenda to use big data for transformative change including the development and oversight of the core $20 million Stage 2 of the Sense-T Program as well as pursuing further new research funding opportunities.
The Research Director will exhibit both profound understanding of computational science and sensor informatics as well as a clear vision for its potential for economic transformation. An entrepreneurial approach to research and science will be highly valued.
The position is based in Hobart and offered for a five year fixed term renewable by agreement.
